FILM INDUSTRY SET TO REVIVE

Local university students have launched an expo aimed at promoting film production in the country.

The expo, titled “the varsity film expo” was held at the National University of Science and Technology NUST, in Bulawayo today.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was guest of honour at the launch commended university students, lecturers and other stakeholders for intensifying the call for inclusive development.

The president also said the exhibiton promotes sustainable development goals for students, lecuteres and stakeholders.

President Mnangagwa said at continental level, the expo has the potential to create employment for over 20 million people contributing about 20 million US dollars for domestic gross product.

In the early 1990s Zimbabwe had a budding film industry that was gaining recognition worldwide with productions such as Neria and Everyone’s Child. The revival of the sector has potential to create employment and contribute to the second republic’s vision 2030
