WE WILL FIGHT MONEY LAUNDERING: PROFESSOR MTHULI NCUBE

Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli  Ncube says the government is commited to the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing as well as other financial malpractises.

Professor Ncube was speaking  in Victoria Falls  where the country is hosting a team of experts from the financial action task force.

He said Zimbabwe has made significant progress in addressing financial malpractices that resulted in the country being placed on the list of high-risk banking countries in the world.

Speaking at the same occasion  Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Deputy Governor, Dr Khuphukile Mlambo said though the country viewed it as a huge blow on the financial sector, Zimbabwe is presented with an opportunity to improve on the deficiencies and enhance the integrity of financial institutions.

International co-operation review group’s Africa / Middle East joint group co-chairperson, Ms Fikile Zitha said the onsite visit is part of the process to delist the country from high banking risk countries after being satisfied that its recommendations are being implemented.
