POWER GENERATION TO IMPROVE THIS MONTH

The Zimbabwe River Authority Chief Executive, Engineer Munyaradzi Munodawafa says power generation in the country is set to improve after the 25th of this month.

In a statement, Engineer Munodawafa said the Kariba Dam rehabilitation project is on course with some specific works which will improve power generation in Zimbabwe and Zambia set to be completed next week.

He said, once the current works are complete, it will pave way for the lifting of power generation restrictions on Zesco limited of Zambia and the Zimbabwe Power Company which had been reduced to six hours a day on some selected dates.

Engineer Munodawafa said although the current works will end on the 25th, the Kariba Dam Rehabilitation Project will continue and is expected to be completed by 2024.

The purpose of the Kariba dam project is to  ensure the long-term safety and reliability of Kariba dam, as a water source, tourist attraction and a power source for both Zimbabwe and Zambia.
