COMMAND AGRICULTURE LOANS REPAID

By Staff Reporter

The toxic culture of non payment of loans is coming to an end in the agricultural sector as 85% of wheat farmers who benefited under command agriculture in 2021 repaid their loans.

Contrary to previous years where there was a lot of defaulting, the farmers paid back CBZ agro-yield loan funds after delivering their wheat to the Grain Marketing Board.

CBZ agro-yield Chief Executive Officer, Mr Walter Chigodora applauded the farmers for paying back the loans.

Mr Chigodora said, the country is assured of sustainable food security.

This year, farmers have so far delivered more than 207 thousand metric tonnes of wheat to the grain marketing board, compared to 156 thousand metric tonnes during the same period last year.
