GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE

By Staff Reporter

The Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural development Dr Anxious Masuka says the Government is committed to agricultural insurance, which will cushion farmers from unexpected events.

Dr Masuka, who was speaking at the launch of a Government insurance model for farmers, said the Government has set in motion an agriculture and rural service insurance plan to cushion farmers from losing their crops and livestock to unexpected incidents and natural disasters.

The insurance model  will see the Agriculture Finance Corporation (AFC) Insurance Company providing affordable insurance cover to farmers across the agriculture value chain.

The insurance company is chaired by Ruth Ncube. Other members of the AFC insurance board include Shamiso Chikobvu, Andrew Pascoe, Loveness Mhindurwa, Joyce Benza and Kura Sibanda.
