Zimbabwe has broken new ground by launching the first ever virtual court in the country.

The Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Ziyambi Ziyambi, who presided over the official opening ceremony said the Government will continue implementing measures to improve the justice delivery system.

Minister Ziyambi said the launch of the court tallies with the envisaged Vision 2030 and that it is important for institutions to know how to adapt as it is necessary in an ever changing world.

He further mentioned that the establishment of the virtual court was initially a response to the COVID-19 pandemic but is now strategic in the operation of the JSC.

In his address Chief Justice Luke Malaba said “The JSC has embarked on a journey and this journey includes the adaptation and transformation of the administration of justice. As the JSC, we are dovetailing the National Development Strategy One (NDS1) by embracing technology as we move towards vision 2030.”
