UNESCO AND IMF REPRESENTATIVES IN THE COUNTRY

By Staff Reporter

As Zimbabwe continues to re-engage with countries and institutions that it had lost relations with in the past 20 years, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and an International Monetary Fund (IMF) representative are in the country to discuss several areas of cooperation.

The two have already held several closed door meetings with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Ambassador Frederick Shava.

UNESCO regional director, Dr Lidia Brito, was the first to hold a meeting with Dr Shava who said the meeting centered on how the education sector can navigate through the challenges presented by COVID-19.

Dr Brito said UNESCO also seeks to equip local communities with information on mitigating the effects of climate change.

IMF resident representative for Zimbabwe, Mr Carlos Caceres, said his meeting with Ambassador Shava was about the engagement the Breton woods institution has had with Zimbabwe in various sectors.
