By Staff Reporter

More than forty firms in different productive sectors of the economy are expected to participate in the Zimbabwe Dubai forum, set for this week.

The firms are drawn from the agriculture industry, manufacturing, fresh produce units, finance and banking, construction, tourism, arts and craft, mining and ICT among others.

ZimTrade chief executive officer Allan Majuru said the forum is important in terms of facilitating trade, economic relations, opportunities and impact on local companies.

“Dubai is an important market to Zimbabwe and as such local companies are interested in securing market opportunities, identifying business partners as well as trade facilitation modalities,” he said.

He said “Opportunities are there in Dubai for Zimbabwean companies to explore. So, it is up to them on how they can forge ahead with relevant steps to further increase their market portfolio.”

A latest survey conducted by ZimTrade shows that there are huge opportunities for Zimbabwe’s horticulture and processed food commodities

Local manufacturers are however expected to improve the quality of their products in order to effectively compete in the United Arab Emirates.
