HARARE ADOPTS SMART CITY CONCEPT

The Harare Minister for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Engineer Oliver Chidawu has announced the blueprint for Harare to attain smart city status.

Engineer Chidawu said the demolition of illegal vending markets in Mbare and other areas such as Ruwa, Epworth and Chitungwiza are crucial in paving way for the re-opening of Mupedzanhamo flea market. 

Harare has embraced the Smart City Concept, with the inclusive and sustainable development of places such as Mbare expected to set the tone for the adoption of the model.

Harare Metropolitan Province Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Tafadzwa  Muguti and the city fathers pledged their commitment to the Smart City Concept.

If adopted successfully, the Smart City Concept is expected to transform local cities in line with the vision of an upper middle income society by 2030.
