By Staff Reporter

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Deputy Governor, Dr Kupukile Mlambo says the country reached a record high foreign currency inflow of US$9.7 billion in 2021.

Dr Mlambo was speaking during a breakfast meeting with exporters in Mutare over the weekend.

He said for the first time since around 2010 foreign currency earnings totaled US$9.7 billion in 2021 up from US$6.3 billion in 2020.

Dr Mlambo attributed the 53 percent increase in foreign currency inflows to policies introduced by the Second Republic through its Ministry of Finance and Economic development.

Meanwhile the Reserve bank of Zimbabwe says it will work to ensure the interbank foreign exchange is functional so that foreign currency is available to the transacting public.
